How it works · one morning, start to finish

You decide. The algorithm calculates.

Octane fits the routine your planners already have. The workbook goes in the same way, the routing files come out the same way — what changes is the ten minutes in between, and the number at the bottom.

01

Upload the day

One Excel file, exactly as your planning tool exports it: orders, depot prices, transport tariffs, supplier limits. No template to fill, no columns to rename, no system to connect.

  • Drag and drop, or pick the file
  • Optional: mark orders already fixed by dispatch
  • Uploads are kept per run, so any day can be re-opened
02

Validate, in plain language

Before anything is solved, the file is checked against your own rules. Two kinds of findings, kept apart on purpose:

Must fix — true blockers. Each names the rule, the row and the fix, with a jump to the exact cell.

Can be accepted — warnings that inform but don't block. The operator decides; the decision is recorded with the run.

03

Solve — exactly, in seconds

Every order is assigned to a depot so that the total of price plus tariff is the lowest possible across the whole day — while every depot and supplier limit holds. Not a heuristic, not a ranking: the mathematical optimum.

Give it the same file twice and it returns the same plan twice. That is what makes it auditable.

Review — cost first, every order explainable

The plan opens on the number that matters, then shows the limits it pressed against. Expand any order to see the alternatives it was weighed against and what each would have cost.

Disagree? Pin the order to the depot you want. Octane re-solves everything else around your decision and tells you the price of it.

05

Export, and hand it to dispatch

Two files, in the layout your dispatch and finance teams already use: the routing sheet and the cost sheet. The run is archived with its inputs, overrides and accepted warnings.
