Any tool works on a good day. Octane is built for the other ones.
A supplier cuts volume at 07:40. A price is a day stale. A planner knows a road is closed. Finance asks about a plan from March. Four situations, and how each one is handled — without a phone call to us.
Shortage is an outcome, not an error
When demand cannot be fully covered, most systems stop with a red message. Octane plans and prices everything that can be served, then names exactly what cannot — which rule, which product, how many litres short — ranked by the biggest blocker first.
Each blocker comes with the fix: relax this minimum, add this volume, or accept the gap and dispatch the partial plan.

Pin it. Octane re-solves around you.
The solver knows prices and tariffs. It doesn't know the road is closed or the depot manager is on holiday. So any order can be pinned to any depot in one click — and the rest of the plan is re-optimised instantly around that decision.
The cost of the override is shown, not hidden. Good judgement stays cheap; expensive habits become visible.
Every run kept. Any plan defensible.
Each run stores its input file, its validation decisions, its pins and its outputs. Because the solver is deterministic, re-opening a run reproduces the exact plan — months later, on a different machine.
Compare any two days side by side: what changed in the inputs, and what it did to the cost.

Who decided what, and when
Accepted warnings
Each “can be accepted” finding records who accepted it and at what time — attached to the run, exportable.
Overrides with reasons
Every pin carries its author, its cost and its stated reason. A monthly total of override cost falls out for free.
Reproducible plans
Same inputs, same plan. Any run can be re-solved in front of the auditor and matched to the archived export.
Roles, not passwords
Planners run and pin; admins manage rules and users; viewers read. Nothing changes silently.
